Will this compressor work with my new airbrush?

I bought this airbrush a while back, but never got around to using it:

My uncle gave me this air-compressor for free. Do you guys think it will work with my airbrush?

That looks pretty big, but as long as you have a pressure regulator and the correct size hose, I don't see why it shouldn't. You only need around 20psi for hobbies, so that thing will probably be overkill though..

I would get a pressure regulator and a moisture trap and you would be good to go. You can get those parts at Wal-Mart for about $20.

Re: Will this compressor work with my new airbrush?

It's actually not really for hobbies. It's more for fine-art.

Will using this air-compressor damage my airbrush? What is a good compressor to use for this airbrush? (where can I buy one and how much does it cost?)

No, it will not harm your airbrush.

I can't see what the difference between fine art and hobby compressors would be. I'd buy a regulator/moisture trap from the hardware store and go for it.

It doesn't matter what the compressor was designed for. As long as it has 0-50 psi then it will do for ANY form of ab'ing modeling-wise.

Any compressor that can give you constant air pressure will do. Some use hugh compressors with air regulators and some use tiny ones made by modeling companies. All you need to buy now is an air regulator and a water trap.

Re: Will this compressor work with my new airbrush?

The only thing that you most likely want to add is some kind off pressure tank. This type off compressor works with a membrane and it pulses the air, which can make the airbrush spit on the paint for you. With a tank the airflow will get more consitant.
A simple contraption made from a soda-pop bottle will if not eliminate the pulses but reduce them.
Just make two holes in the screw-on cork and attach a hose to each one off them, one to the compressor and the other to the airbrush.
Simple, cheap and useful...just make sure the hoses are glued in properly so they don't leak.
Otherwise it's like all other allready stated, a moisture trap and a regulator comes in handy.

Good luck!
Niclas
