86 monte carlo..6 cylinder

I was just cruising around with a friend yesterday and I happened to see a monte carlo sitting in the front of a year towards the road,no sale sign but I figured I's stop and talk to this guy, well its an 1986 with a little over 200,000 miles,6 cylinder, body looks good and no modifications, for 4,000$?!..That seemed way to high for my liking but is their something special about this car for 4,000$ with over 200K?..

hehehe

well... 1000 would be way to high. If that car went for sale in my market for $500 no one would buy it. Its the sort of thing you have to drive to the junkyard if you want them to take it for free.

Re: 86 monte carlo..6 cylinder

the market for like, a 20 year old american v6 carburated is um

soft

lol

In kbb the value is ----- and seeing as gas has come up ince its printed its possible he would need to pay you to take it.

people are really weird about the value of their cars. If I oned that car right now I would look at how much gas was in it, drive it and see if I could make it to a good spot near a bus stop before i walked away from it.

Someone with a parking space could make money from um....

parts such as the wheels brake pads spark plugs or something. seats

Re: 86 monte carlo..6 cylinder

I mean its a beautiful car great condition but with that many miles and a V6 he must have some emotional sides to that car.

Re: 86 monte carlo..6 cylinder

I have so many times visited car sellers who love their car.

When they think about how much they spent to maintain it. How much time. How many years learning about their car models quirks.

They got in touch with how every part fails, which part to replace it with. At a certain point thats thousands.

Sadly there is no one on gods green earth that is going to pay them for it. So many times I visit a car that just needs a new alternator and the owner thinks its worth $2000 because all you have to do is spend $100 to fix it and they repaired everything else. Its better than when they bought it for $2000 5 years ago.

When the truth is no one including the junk yard is even going to pay them
$50, or even tow it away for free. Not even a donate your car to charity place will take a 86 monte carlo off your hands.

Its like a weird counterculture thing to pimp up cars worth $0 though such as a pinto or vega. Even the chevy impala, worth essentially nothing used is popular to put $1000s into in the right crowd. The potential buyer for these cars is so few and far between but it exists.
