A/C vent problem

2000 LeSabre with manual A/C heat control.

When I'm using the air conditioner, the passenger side vents blow cold air but the drivers side vents only blow slightly cool air.

After searching and reading on this forum, I located and inspected the actuator behind the glove box. It appears to be working correctly as i move the temperature control on the dash.

Does anybody know if there is a second actuator for the driveres side vents? If not does anybody know where to find the rods that move the blend door to check that they are attached correctly? Any other ideas?

Do you have a manual dual climate control system?

Only the dual climate control systems have more than one temperature actuator. One for the driver and one for the passenger sides.

The actuator controls what is called a temperature valve in the lower heater/evaporator core assembly.

If it is a basic manual system (non dual), uneven cooling across the evaporator can be caused by a low refrigerant charge.

It is the manual system, not the dual climate control.

I just purchased the vehicle about three weeks ago and the dealer supposedly checked the freon to make sure it had enough in it. If this problem is caused by low freon I guess I'll talk to the dealer and see if they will fix it.

Just to make sure, is there anything else that can cause this problem?

In a worse case scenario it could be something relating to the blend door in the lower heater/evaporator assembly. The actuator controls a temperature control valve. But I would look at that only as a last resort.

The problem is not only caused by a low charge but an improper charge. The right amount of refrigerant must be in the system.

Looks like I'll be taking ot the shop to have the freon checked.
