Today in stock car racing history-

There's a young guy on the another racing board that is posting some of the significant events of the last sixty or so years and I've been illustrating them for him using some of the models in my collection. Thought ya'll might enjoy the combination of a young man's research and an old man's memories.

Feb 22nd, 1963: Daytona Beach, FL: Winner-first qualifier race: Junior Johnson (started 2nd), chevy, race avg at 164.083, no lead changes, 0 cautions. Pole Winner: Fireball Roberts at 160.943 mph.



Feb 22nd, 1963: Daytona Beach, FL: Winner-second qualifier: Johnny Rutherford (started 9th), chevy, race avg at 162.969, 4 lead changes among 3 drivers, 0 cautions. Pole Winner: Fred Lorenzen at 161.870 mph.





Feb 22nd, 1970: Daytona Beach, FL: Winner-Daytona 500: Pete Hamiltion (started 9th), plymouth, race avg at 149.601, 24 lead changes among 10 drivers, 6 cautions for 45 laps. Pole Winner: Cale Yarborough at 194.015 mph.

I love your models, Luke, and the history though most of it is over my head. I also love these old cars from back when factories had an excuse to make them worth a damn, and put them on the track. Top work.
