need help on a 2001 crown victoria

the check engine light came on and I had it read and they said it was the EGR on it? When i go start it, It starts to crack but then dies, please help!

Please post the EXACT code number. EGR is really vague. If the engine starts and then dies, try to start it with the gas pedal depressed and if it runs with gas pedal pushed down, suspect the Idle Speed Control motor.

it might be time to take and clean your EGR passages,, or take it tho the shop and have then do it,,,they get plugged up with carbon and stop it from running right,, or go here and do a search on Cleaning EGR passages,, or cleaning EGR.. Or look it up on the web here.. But I bet thats what it is
