Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
Hey all;
So today I ripped off the TB to try to get the TPS to read 0 at idle at 100 at WOT (no luck) and put it all back together normally. No changes made. When I started the car, the engine clunked and chugged. I remembered I sparyed quite a bit of TB cleaner into the intake so I figured it was that. I started and turned off the car multiple times to burn it off. After a couple, it was fine, but the idle sucked, the CEL was on, and the engine sounded really low. Like the sound was a lot lower than normal (actually sounded pretty good). I took to Autozone to get the CEL tested and it was the TPS and IAC errors. Had them reset it. Drove home fine. Logger showed TPS fine readings, but the SAFC was reading 0% throttle. It started showing movement when the throtttle is almost half open. What can cause this? I reset the ECU and havent readlly driven it yet, but it was idleing better. Any ideas on what caused the CEL and the SAFC to not read the throttle until about 50% open? The SAFC starts at 0 and goes to about 45%. 0 starts at about 50% according to the logger. Any ideas? Yes, the connectors are plugged in. Thanks

Re: Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
While driving to work the Throttle on the SAFC worked fine then. Must have took a long time for the reset to kick in on it. It only reads up to 80% however. Before when playing with the TPS and all, it started off at 76% and then over time went up to 90%. The car ran fine the whole night. Yeah.

Re: Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
I wouldn't suggest getting carb cleaner in those sensors... wait for that carb cleaner to dry to... I've been told it can hydrolock the engine...

Re: Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
You would need to spray an assload of carb cleaner in there to hydrolock the engine. Actually, I don't even know if you could spray enough to do it because it would evaporate over time.

Re: Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
The car will stutter a little if you spray a bunch in, but never heard of someone "hydrolocking" their car because they sprayed too much in. I fucking gunked that shit all over inside my TB, and it hesitated a little but that was it. I litterally used 1/4 of a bottle and let it sit for about 10 mins before starting it.

Re: Weird TPS and IAC and TB problem
ok, my mistake... they were talking a/b brake parts cleaner (it is a cleaning fluid and does really well with the gunk, but not good to get in motor, referring to the non-flammable kind)
