i'm a lil confused

ok most of the time i am confused, but we'll ignore that.
neways, i was reading info on the 93+ rx7, it's a turbo, i know that, but are they all twin turbo's or single. are there ones that arent turbo.
i've seen some advertised for sale as an r1 or something like that, also some with tt and some with just a single.
i might wanna buy one down the line, info that makes sense will help a lot

the FD's which is the one you are referring to all came twin turbo stock. Alot of people switched to a sungle turbo for reliability purposes as well as modability, it's easier to tune a car for one turbo than 2 sequntial turbos. The R1 was pretty much the base model is all, they all had the same power 93-95 here in the US of 255. Over in japan they made them all the way to 2002 and they upped the power in 99 to 278bhp

not as rare as you would think, but it's hard to find one that doesnt need a rebuild when you buy it.

Re: i'm a lil confused

i heard that from friends, the engine needs rebuilds constantly becuase of the pressure put on such a lil engine from the boost.
i think my stealth tt will satisfy me for now, as will my 944, but the rx7 just has that look of, u know u want me, but u cant have me.

the R1 was the "track" model of the FD, it had some aluminum suspension components and dual oil coolers.

Re: i'm a lil confused

Not to hard to find but the R1's and R2's are alot more rare because they are the track versions. A touring model like mine will go for a bit cheaper. The only differences are stiffer springs, BBS wheels, Dual oil coolers, Black suede seats eliminated CD player. I bought the touring because it's the lightest beside the base and I'm modding everything so either way it's all going.

Lemme know what ?'s you got I'll be glad to help a potential Rx fan ~

IMO ~ The whole reliability rep is BS, if your smart and know your stuff that never happens except a rebuild every 80K or so on the motor.

Re: i'm a lil confused

whats the difference between the base and the touring?
cause honostly i like sports cars that get back to basics. i'd rater have no a/c, heat, tcs, a real floor shift manual, rwd, and very good power to weight ratio. i bought my 944, the only reason i have a/c is for my girlfriend.
i'm already a fan of the rx7(only 93+, the bodies are sexy as hell)

Re: i'm a lil confused

The touring and base are different just cause the touring comes with a bose surrond sound which add's a crazy 78lb's! It also come's with fog's and maybe some other options depending on what else was purchased from the dealer.

Yes the R1 also has eliminated A/c forgot to mention that. But that is simple stuff to do as you will probably eliminate the air and maybe power steering as well, personally I keep my power steering in. I think the question is what do you really want out of the car? I bought mine for many reasons but mainly because they are amazing looking and relatively cheap for the cost. I also wanted an Rx7 due to the fact the rotary baffle's alot of people and it's alot simplier then a complex piston engine. You don't have to worry about working the internals or missing a shift you just drive... I also bought the car because I do have the max performance mind set, 50/50 weight, 2650 curb weight, 1300cc engine, 9.5k redline stock and a nice long geared 5 speed. They are also very resposive to mod's especially if your just doing the basic's such as Intake, fully exhaust, fuel pump and Ecu. That alone can get you to 330-365 rwhp on a nice tune even for sequential setup instead of non Seq. The Rx7 is NOT a daily driver as I found last year. It's a high performance car but with little mod's you can do alot. Just the way your stance is when you sit in it you already know what you can do and how hard you can push it. Would'nt say it's for everyone but if you want to get into the "Rx Scene" your more then welcome but just be prepared to be overwhelmed with mod's, I know I was when I bought one. I've driven my friends N/a 944 not to bad does have a feel like my car but more weight in the front and less power. If your into those drivers cars you'll definetly love the FD.

Re: i'm a lil confused

i have a stealth r/t tt and the 944(jut got rid of my neon eh no loss) the 944 i like it handles really well, my guess the near 50/50 weight helps with that. the stealth handles really well to, but that awd and aws for ya.
the rx7, i'm not looking to buy one now, but as of right now it's on a list, a list of cars i'll hjave by the time im 25, and i'm 20 so...sometime soon.
i just want a car that looks nice, has power, and yet can b driven like it's a normal car. i mean lots of cars fit that profile, but the rx7 just has that appeal, and evidently they're rare.
i dont really modify cars, not my thing. the only thing i'm going to b doing with my current cars is, making the 944 n/a look like a turbo up front, just give it a smoother more refined porsche look.
what do u mean it's not a daily driver as u found out last yr, did u crash it, or attempt driving in rain or snow or something?

Re: i'm a lil confused

Expensive... more then a honda less then a porsche. Mazda parts from mazda are sooo expensive but most of the stuff you can get from the forum for 1/4 of the price even new stuff. Hard to find only if you don't where to look but other wise it's cake to find almost anything.
