Rebuilding Head

Hi guys im new to this forum so hello and nehelp wud be much appreciated.

I am the proud owner of a 00 civic Ex 2dr. I blew out the bottom end ( spun rod bearing ) and have taken the liberty to rebuild the whole damn thing. My question is..... How to rebuild the Cylinder Head? i have all Skunk2 Stage 1 racing parts for the head, but wut would be the best advice on how to do it. Do i need to port an polish it? i ordered standard compression? sized valves b/c im not turboing the motor or Juicing it. and how would i go about porting and polishing it if i do need to do that. Also how do you adjust a stage 1 adjustable Race Cam??

Well, if you're doing any kind of rebuild yourself, I recomend you have at the least a Haynes manual, preferably a Helms. They will both cover everything about a head rebuild. Vtec heads are alightly more complicated than a regualr head, but with a manual, you should be fine.

I have a haynes manual, and its a lil confusing i kinda get the jist of it, but its my first rebuild so im a lil skeptical about it, but lil my dad says u never kno till u get in and do it. but will porting the head be hard and wut are the best ways about doin it to get the best results???

A vtec head rebuild isn't really difficult, it just tedious. There are lots of small parts and specific orders for everything to go back together. If you take your time though, you can do it. As for a port and polish. The most I recomend to actually do yourself is a port match. You take your intake manifold gasket and place it over the studs on the intake side of the head. Color in any areas around the ports that the gasket does not cover and remove the metal from those areas. Do the same to the intake manifold.
