Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

Think again. I recently flew out of DFW. I was traveling with my younger brother. We made it through the security screenings just fine and when we get got to Jersey, he opened his bag a realized he had left one full 12 gram Co2 cartridge and one C class model rocket engine with the ignitor in it in the front pouch. Both items made it through through the X-ray without question. Hmm, small tube with wires comming out of it. Not suspicious at all. Securtiy is psychological bullshit.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

dude, i carried 2 knives in my camera bag which was a carry on, on like 5flights. forgot i left them in there.

one time it took awhile to scan through, they were staring hard, and i said, without knowing anything else was in there, that itwas just my camera and some equipment. they let me through. i know it's BS.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

if it was all bullshit then the Scotland Yard wouldn't have caught 26 would-be bombers in one night and wouldn't have prevented a potential attack.

yea, sometimes stuff slips through the net. but the fact that attacks really aren't that often shows that security works. just remember, they won't always tell you when they've caught someone, so you're not alarmed.

and yes, there are ways of getting things past x-ray machines. there are readily available substances that x-ray machines just can't see through at all. but i won't share what they are.

I just think it's ridiculous that I have to take my rubber flip-flops off while I can get explosives through security.

everything's done for a reason.

you'd be more pissed off if you didn't have to do all this and your flight got blown to bits.

I'm also guessing international customs and airports are alot stricter and tighter about it than the US. Its been a while since I've traveled out of the country, but it just seems that way.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

I happen to think that a lot of these airport stories are conspiracy. Not that I'm a huge advocate for conspiracy theories, but this whole 9/11, al Queda, gas prices, war funding crap is getting out of hand. I mean.. the guys get busted in the airport, and then all of a sudden the government had been tracking them for 6 months but still let them get that far? Wtf? I really think it's mostly set up. And this whole terrorist situation going on in the world is paying big to a lot of people. If there are people evil enough to kill thousands of innocent people for religion, why wouldn't there be people evil enough to do it for billions of dollars and explain it all with this big facade about terrorists? It makes more sense to me that greedy political superpowers would do it for money and pull the wool over the worlds eyes.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

Tell you one thing, all this additional airport security makes me 100% more appreciative that the company I work for has its own fleet of aircraft!!

We only fly commercial when we have to go to the West coast or if there's only person flying - which is seldom on both counts.

Hehe...I remember reading in a car mag, a guy had to replace his $100 Audi key fob because it had a "switchblade action."

Go figure. Half those people aren't intelligent enough to tie their own shoes. Not mention they're profiling little old ladies and ripping their wheel chairs and walkers apart.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

Though they caught 26 people has anyone seen thier pictures?
And the whole thing about these people being watched for the past 6months sound fishy to me.

Wont be long and you wont get to take anything but a towel when you fly

I think all this is only delaying the terrorists attacks, if any at all will ever happen. It seams its the fear thing they are going for now, just that alone is enough for people not to fly.

Next they'll just put the bombs inside themselves,
or just put the shit in the cargo area with the rest of the luggage.
Either way I'm sure people are consenred when they fly commercialy.
I avoid it at all costs if possible, not because of this terrorsim, its just the whole thing of trusting a total stranger to fly me around when god knows how many drinks, or pills, those pilots slam before they fly thier deathflights

its just a monoploy, to start jacking the prices up again on flights , again !

all pilots are breathalysed after flights, they may not drink before a flight, during a flight or immedately after a flight. all flight crew are subject to random testing for both alcohol and drugs at any time.
