Evaporator Core

How do I remove the Evaporator Core? I have everything stripped down to the Evaporator Core. System is depressurized. I to the screw out by the tubes that run into the firewall. Now all I do is pull it out? Or is there something else I have to do? I have a 92 Z34. Thanks.

Re: Evaporator Core

Once you get the drain pan and the heater core out, just remove the bolt from the center of the block fitting outside and the retainer clamps inside. It shoud drop right out.

Don't forget to transfer the condensate screen to the new core.

Re: Evaporator Core

But from the inside of my car the first thing thats there is the evaporator core. It's the aluminem one. Then behind that is the heater core which is brownish. At least I thought that was what they were. All I know is the aluminum one is first in the car under the dash.

Re: Evaporator Core

If your talking about in the center under the radio, held in by two thin metal strips (one on top, one on bottom) with screws at the ends, that's the heater core. The evap core is much larger and more buried.

Re: Evaporator Core

The aluminum one is actually the heater core, and the bownish one is the evaporator core.

Heater core out first, then the evaporator.

Have fun.
