ran out of gas
I ran out of gas. I put 2 gallons in with a gas can. It started right up. I drove it up a hill to get out of the parking lot I was in and it sputtered and stalled. I rolled it back down to level ground but it won't start again. I tried for a couple of hours till my battery got weak. Any suggestions?

Re: ran out of gas
running out of gas is usually a bad thing. If you let your car get that low before fill up, chances are you fried the fuel pump. The pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, so its alwyas a good idea to keep the pump cool and submerged in at least a quarter tank.

Re: ran out of gas
I had heard that before. If you let your gas get too low that you are doing damage to the fuel pump. However I usually let it go as low as I can due to high gas prices. (I have a grocery discount card).
