Exclamation Fuel leak! NOOOO!

Hello everyone. AF newbie here.

A few days ago, I was filling my Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (1993, 3.1L V6) with gas, when I noticed a drip coming from underneath the car. Sure enough, the dreaded event had occured - I had a fuel leak.

*DUN DUN DUN*

I took it home and my friend and I had a look under the car, and the fuel line, although rusty as all hell, was not leaking. We eventually traced it to the siphon pipe. It's a pinhole leak that isn't anything major, at least as not major as you can be with a gas leak, but it is a rust hole and will only get bigger with time.

My question is, what would it take to rip out the siphon pipe and the fuel line and replace them with a rubber line I've heard you can buy? My friend said that it's possible to just clamp the rubber line onto a pipe that protrudes from the tank itself, but I can't find any such protruding pipe! I really hope it exists, because if there's any welding involved, forget it. I'm going to have to scrap my baby.

Please help! I'd love to save my Cutlass!

Re: Fuel leak! NOOOO!

The replacement filler/vent tube assembly from GM is only about $50. Worse case scenario is to replace the whole thing and be done with it. Bulk fuel filler/vent tube hose (3/4" to 2" ID)is also available for about $5-$7 per foot.
