2002 Chevy cavalier shifter light
Does anyone know if the console had lights mounted in it so you could tell what gear you were in? This is a automatic transmission.
Thank you in advance! |

Re: 2002 Chevy cavalier shifter light
Nope, the shifter light is for the manuals. Your auto-shifter should show the main gear it is in, example Drive, 1st, 2nd, etc., but it doesn't show shifting through gears, as that is done within the transmission.

Yes the 2002 has a light in the shift console. Mine has burnt out and I hope someone out there can tell me how to replace it. I presume that the whole console has to come off but how to do this is what I need to know.

Re: 2002 Chevy cavalier shifter light
yeah, i think thats what he was talking about.... a year and a half ago
besides, isnt there a "p r n d 3 2 1" underneath the speedometer that would light up as well?? (not sure about the 2002's)

Re: 2002 Chevy cavalier shifter light
hah, hate to keep reviving this old thread, but i have an auto 2002 z24 and it doesn't show the gears on the gauge panel anywhere, nor does my wife's auto 2001 cav, just next to the auto shifter for both years.
And it just so happens that her light next to her auto shifter is out. I was just wondering the difficultly involved in fixing this, giving that the bulb is probably burnt out i imagine? Or possibly a wiring/fuse issue or something, then I probably wouldn't bother even trying heh? I'm assuming i'll be able to find out how to take off the shift console in an interior painting tutorial somewhere. But was just wondering if there are any words of caution, or tips to look for? Thanks a lot for any advice. |
