speedo cable

so my speedometer is going out and I think its just the cable, my question is, how hard is it to replace the cable, would I need to take the tranny out? if so should I just wait a little while untill I can get a clutch kit and do them all at the same time?

Re: speedo cable

there isnt a cable. Its electric from a sending unit in the tailshaft of the tranny, known as a VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Most likely its the board in your display. My speedo stopped working/was acting all wierd and i pulled my display out and replaced the speedo part (nothing else, i didnt just throw a whole new cluster in) and it worked great, never had another problem. Either that or pull out your VSS and check the gears on it and maybe try an elec test (not sure, never done one liek that, maybe an OHM reading?).

Re: speedo cable

id suggest picking up a FSM for your ride too. It defenitly clears alot of things up. I wish i would have bought one back when i had my 240, though i did buy one for the car i have now and its 1300 pages!!! it covers everything on the car pretty much..
