Thermostat Location?

OK guys looking for my thermostat on my 2.4, it should be located near the bottem back of the engine below the header correct?

You can follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine.

There should be a bell housing at that point held on by bolts.

The thermostat will be under that bell housing.

Be careful because coolant will come out of the housing/upper hose when you remove it.

Coolant will also come out of the engine when you remove the T-stat.

It's a good idea to place rags under the housing to lessen the mess.

It's also a good idea to drain the radiator some to help lessen the mess as well.

Here's a good tool that I like to use when filling the radiator back up... eliminates
air bubbles in the cooling system

Hmm thats weird we removed the upper radiator hose last night and the thermostat wasnt there. So i guess its gotta be the lower one then

Where your upper radiator hose connects to the engine, there is a housing there.

The T-stat should be under that housing.

The coolant enters the engine from the lower radiator hose, stays in the engine until it reaches
the correct operating temp, then is released by the T-stat back to the radiator through the upper
radiator hose where it gets cooled by the radiator.

yea im pretty sure i got the replacement one lol, cant find the damn thing haha

1. Properly drain and recover the coolant to a level below the thermostat.
2. Unfasten the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt, which is accessible through the exhaust manifold runners.
3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
4. Disconnect the radiator and heater hoses from the outlet pipe.
5. Unfasten the outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt and the cover-to-outlet pipe bolts.
6. Remove the thermostat, then clean the old gasket material from the mating surfaces.
7. 
   To install:
8. Position the thermostat in ite correct location, then install the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt. Tighten the bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
9. Install the outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt. Tighten the pipe-to-oil pan bolt to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm) and the pipe-to-transaxle bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
10. Connect the radiator and heater hoses to the outlet pipe.
11. Carefully lower the vehicle.
12. Install the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold runner.
13. Properly fill the cooling system, then connect the negative battery cable.
