Completed - Lifted Hummer H2

This vehicle is WAY out of the type of cars that I usually build. It would run over the sports cars that I usually build with ease.

I started this kit friday evening, and wraped it up in about 5 days. This Revell kit goes together very nicely. It was a blast to work on.

I started by ditching the bling wheels that came in the kit, and used some Aoshima wheels with Super Swamper tires. The suspension needed a few inches of lift to get the tires to work and look correct.

The paint is Tamiya Mica Red over Tamiya Orange and then clearcoated. The interior is a dark grey and red.

I added a pic next to the Z06 Vette I recently finished just to show the large size of this monster.

Looks awsome. A much improved build, than that junk on the boxart. But lifted? ...Maybe..looks pretty much like stock 1:1 height. But alot better than the OOB height. Great job!

That's definitely a diversion, and a nice one at that. Pretty quick work for 5 days.

i already said it to you... I love it, it's really well built and well, nothing to say about it in a critical manner, so hey, it's a model I d like to have!

Awesome. Even scale drivers can feel inadequate sometimes.

But really - nice, clean build.

The windows are smooth, what you are seeing is reflections. They fit very nicely and I didn't have any problems with the glass at all.

Re: Completed - Lifted Hummer H2

Kinda weird hearing you say it was sitting to low so you lifted it heheh i guess half the time we are always lowering our models.Love your work as always,i just wish i could crank out models the same rate as you do. Right now im burnt out buidling cars seeing your work always inspires! Love the color and finish..Its another beauty!

Oh BTW you said you said "The paint is Tamiya Mica Red over Tamiya Orange and then clearcoated." Its been a while since i sprayed Mica Red ive always thought it was a solid color. Wouldnt spraying Mica Red over Orange totaly cover up the orange base? or was both colors mixed together as one? First glance at the paint i would have thought body was sprayed mica red then was sprayed clear orange followed by a clear coat.

Thanks for the kind words. I went through a slump at the beginning of the year, and am now making up for that lost time.

The Mica red is a metallic red, and the underlying color makes it change tone dramatically. I had previously used Tamiya Maroon under Mica red on this Testarossa, and it looks totally different than the Hummer above.

Using different shades of basecoats affects Tamiya paint dramatically.
