Dash vibration when stereo loud

'99 WJ Grand Cherokee: when I crank up the stereo, there's alot of vibration coming from the passenger side dashboard. I don't have anything in the glove compartment and it still vibrates loudly to the beat of the music. I have to adjust the fader 3/4 way to the rear spaekers to get the dash noise to stop? Any fixes?

Sounds like you need to replace the tweeters in the dash. Most people just disconnect and replace the door speakers with something other than the crap that came with the vehicle.

Re: Dash vibration when stereo loud

I had the same problem, but it's not the dash. It's the instrument cluster on the ceiling, the one that tells you the temperature, gas mileage, etc. Push your finger to it when you hear a rattle, and it will go away. There should be a screw to tighten it, although it won't make it any better.

Re: Dash vibration when stereo loud

If it's more of a "cracking" sound, it is most likely the tweeter.

Put your ear in the corner of the dash next to the windshield and try to isolate the speaker. Of course do not attempt this if it requires the volume to be turned up very high. If you have trouble locating the source, use a paper towel tube or rubber hose held to the ear filed with something to baffle the excess noise and move it around until you pin point it.
