2.2 to 2200 swap help
Hey I am not sure if this would be the right place to put this, so move it if needed
I have a 4 door 1997 Sunfire, 2.2 4 speed auto. This motor has a few prolblems and I am building it for my sister. So I have a good 2200 out of a 99 cavalier sitting around also a 4 speed auto. So I am wondering how much work it would be to put the 2200 into the sunfire. I am assuming thta I will need to swap the engine, tranny, wiring harness, and gauge cluster. Would anything else need to be swapped? Thanks in advance.

either i was really wrong, or really confused..but isnt the 2200 OHV a 2.2L engine? so your swapping the same engine in to fix the bad engine??
edit: oooooooooooooooooo nevermind sorry i thought you were swappin a 2200 for a 2200 you just changed the names...sorry i cant help you there...

I always refered to my car as a 2.2 but the engine says 2200...i dunno, i thought they were the same

They are both 2.2 OHV's but in 98 they redone the head mostly, So i need to know what needs to be done to change the engine over.

well if you want to do it all right...wiring harness, ECU, mounts, Tranny, motor...hehe not sure if it will be any difference on the cluster though..
