More ignition switch symptoms?

I recently replaced my 97 ignition switch - got tired of my truck dying while flying down the road at 70 MPH! (How is this not a safety recall??!!) Anyway, now that I've replaced the switch/harness a few other problems cleared up. I hadn't seen these mentioned as related to the switch so I thought I'd throw them out. Before replacing my switch, my wipers would not turn off. Strange but true. They would turn on every time but after turning them off they would continue to run. Sometimes only for a few extra wipes but as the switch further went south, the wipers would run for several minutes before mysteriously turning off (very irritating after the rain had stopped!). In addition, I lost my windshield washer. If the wash button was pushed, the wipers would go on (and not stop!) but no fluid would be pumped on the windshield. Again, this symptom was intermittent and got worse as the switch got worse. I never connected these issues with the switch and spent several hours trying to fix my wipers and washer - to no avail. After I replaced my switch/harness, all my washer/wiper problems went away. I don't know how/why the harness is related to the wiper/washer and guess it is possible I bumped a different connector or something while doing the switch/harness replacement but... I hope maybe this helps keep someone else from wasting time on washer/wiper fixes when it is the switch/harness.
BTW, great instuctions on the switch replacement. Just be sure to read all the posts and use the tumbler removal instructions instead of cutting the plastic.

Re: More ignition switch symptoms?

Thanks for the update GG!!!
The longer we keep these Bravadas, the more exotic the problems and fixes. By sharing knowledge as you just did, more Bravada's(and Blazers & Jimmys) will be kept out of the junkyard and on the road in service.
