instaled FMIC today.

i got done today at arround 3, evertyhing went pretty smooth except the part where the outlet side of the turbo needs to be hooked up to the IC,, there was no way it would be a direct bolt on, so i had to use my LICP, no i just a few questions.
this goes to the people here with the same kit. how did you run the
pipes? i put mine under the crossmember thing "for now".

Also, i still have a big ass boost leak i think, the turbo spools up fine, and boost like normal, but when i hit 15 psi, it starts jerking and acting like boost leak, cant really explain it, sometimes sounds like backfire/misfire.
when someone says a turbo has X shaft play, what do they mean? Today i did something to my turbo, i put my finger in the inlet side and i pushed and pulled the "fan-like-thing' and it moves , i did it up and down and it moves too, it kinda makes me think the turbo is shot because today i was boosting slowly that i could hear the turbo, and went up the RPM's slowly suddenly i heard the turbo make a really wierd(sp) noise and the car just felt like "holding back. but oohhh, it's something i gotta figure out, it's a dsm.
i'll post pics when i'm done uploading,

edit. pictures added

and last but not least.

Re: instaled FMIC today.

Sick, FMIC's are so damn sexy. As for the turbo: If the turbine shaft has play in it, its shot and either needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The jerking at 15psi could possibly be from the shitty turbo or maybe fuel cut?, not really sure.

not really, all turbos have a little shaft play. When it fill up with oil it gets a bit stiffer, totally normal.

Regarding the performance issues, well there is no doubt about it that with the T25 your car is slower now than what is was with the stock smic. The T2-small has to work ridiculously hard to keep that thing filled with air, you'll lose boost up top, and hotter air into your manifold. Backfiring could be because of that, but swap that turbo ASAP.

Re: instaled FMIC today.

The turbo will not even notice that FMIC at high rpm. Once the IC is filled it's filled. Mass air flow through the system will not change. There is some theory that a large IC will cause more lag, but my counter theory is that the small turbos spool so friggin fast it will fill it right up anyway.

You asked a question for people with the same kit, but I don't see where you mentioned what kit this is? I don't recognize it offhand.

I didn't know that. I'm still trying to learn about turbos

Re: instaled FMIC today.

I think you should cut down your dump tube a little bit. It looks kinda crimped. If you give it a little snip it will have a smoother shape to it.

Re: instaled FMIC today.

ok so i just came back home and i was driving in a 30 mph zone doing 35 in 3rd gear, i decided to step on the clutch and rev up a litle, and WTF, i'm building boost, at arround 4.5k 10psi, so i thought the clutch was not all the way in, and when i got home in my garage, i did it again and i was still building boost, i really have no idea what this means? any ideas?

Re: instaled FMIC today.

How much does the shaft on the inside move? Can you pull it out so that the blades hit the housing? Inspect the housing and blades and make sure that they aren't hitting, otherwise you're due for a new turbo and if that IS the case, I wouldn't boost anymore at all cause you run the risk of one of the blades chipping off and taking a vacation through your motor.

Re: instaled FMIC today.

Awesome, I have that same fmic setup. What do you mean about how you ran the pipes? The lower pipes did not fit my turbo either. Here is a link to what I did. http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...36_39_full.jpg That pic is from looking under the front of the car. I recently bought a mandrel bent j-bend from summit but, I have not got around to installing it yet. I tested this setup up to 24psi with no leaks. I am sure it will go higher I have just not tried it yet.

ok cool man, thanks i just wanted to make sure i had it right, that's how i have mine, is that the stock IC pipe you have?

i think is about .5 cm, i dont know how much that would be converted to in.
also, i never tried this before but yesterday i removed my intake pipe and startted the car, and noticed that the turbine wheel spins at idle, is it suppossed to do that?

On something else, could the BIG FMIC give me a cell? i went to autozone and they read the codes and i got these codes.

p0105- the pcm has determined that a malfunction exist in the electrical circuit for the manifold absolute pressure sensor or the barometric pressure sensor.

p0110-the pcm has determined that a malfunction exist in the electrical circuit for the intak air temperature sensor, imput reading are at the extreme bottom or top of the scale, indicate a possible wiring problem.(this the one i think is because of the FMIC)(where is it located? i know it's on IM on 420a, but not sure about 4g63)

p0325-the pcm has determined tha a malfunction exist in the electrical circuit for the knock sensor 1,(bank 1 or single sensor)(bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder 1,while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)

p1500-vehicle speed sensor intermitent.

p1400-DPFE EGR circuit low input,( this one i blocked the egr),

Re: instaled FMIC today.

Yes that is the stock ic piping from the lower pipe to the turbo. Like I said though, I bought a mandrel bent j pipe from summit but, since the blown head gasket issue it has not been a top priority to install it haha.
