trunk lock

My trunk will not lock. Is there a trick to it other than just sticking the key in and turning? Is it possible I was only given a valet key? How do you tell if it is a valet key?

thanks,

Re: trunk lock

I checked my e36 that only has 114,000 miles and I had two wires that were completely broken open and wires showing.
