Replacement of Starter on 99 SL2
Hello gang!
I am helping a buddy of mine and we are trying to change the starter. The car is a 1999 Saturn SL2 w/ an Automatic Tranny. We know where the starter is (on the underside of the block) but we don't know how to get to it. Can anybody please tell me what to remove to get to the starter, and/or an easier way to replace the starter w/out removing anything? Thanks! COClone |

Re: Replacement of Starter on 99 SL2
When I reinstalled my starter on my SC2 I just put the car on stands and crawled under the car on a creeper 15mins later I was done(was hungover). Its all very simple once you're under the car. Just have a flashlight.
Should've added that I was using rachet-wrenches when I did mine. Last edited by brokenplastic; 07-26-2006 at 03:28 AM. |

Re: Replacement of Starter on 99 SL2
its held in place by two bolts, hopefully you have some good tools to reach the upper bolt, its a pain, a curved wrench or an "obsruction" wrench (s shaped) is perfurred. i have heard of people using several extentions and going thru the wheel well, but i have never tryed it.
