Problems with overheating

A few weeks ago my 99 neon started making strange "metal" sounds. ( Someone told me the bearings were going out on my pulley system) About a week later the sounds disappeared. A few days ago, my car started squealing...thought it was the belt. Yesterday I was driving and the squealing got really loud then suddenly quit. When I pulled over, my coolant was pouring out of my car. Now my car overheats when ran for a short period of time. Is the overheating problem connected to the sounds I was hearing before? Also, for about a month now I have had a clicking sound under my dash. The door ajar light flicks on and off as does the dome light. this happens even when the ignition is turned off.

Re: Problems with overheating

Your water pump probably went out on you. Did you add more coolant and DI water to the system?

Re: Problems with overheating

Sounds as if the water pump pulley bearing went south.

Re: Problems with overheating

Relying because old news and repairs matter to some one in trouble. This goes for all squealing noises under your hood. With your car parked, emergency brake on and running, use a foot of half inch heater hose and put one end in your ear and try to find the sound. "Do not use a piece of metal"
