K&N Aircharger
Hello:
I was looking at the K&N website and I found the following partnumber: 63-1032 It's for their Aircharger system, it replaces the Airbox system in the Xterra/Frontier. It's not just one of those cone shape filters that attach to the stock Airbox "Hose". http://www.knfilters.com/aircharger/aircharger.htm Following the links in their website, it seems to be around $225.00. Is anyone using this system? How good is it? Thanks for your help guys! Cedrec |

I've had it installed for several weeks now.
Look for a review on XOC in about a week (running a few tanks of gas through for mileage testing). There is definitely more power, from 2500 RPM up, which is where I need it at this altitude with bigger tires and heavy gear on board. Passing is easier than it used to be. More power down low would be nice, but there is really no way to get that without internal engine modifications.

Installed!
Install only took and hour and a half, that included taking out the old airbox system. I took on of the rubber grommets/screwposts out so the bracket would sit lower. It just sat up to hi with the grommet in place.
You only here the difference and feel it above 2500rpm. Highway cruising and idle the noise isn't any different. This will definitely help when passing on the highways, that is where I seem to need it the most!!!

The rubber edge should have a couple marks in it from the hood just touching it to make a nice seal. I see one of yours.

I'll compare mine to ChuckH's tonight. It just looks that it will sit to high when I close the hood, I am probably being over concerned is all?

I thought it looked pretty high too, so I closed my hood very carefully the first time. I can see where the hood comes down on the rubber seal, but the seal allows a lot of squish.
Let me say again that my truck really moves now! ![]()

Funny you should mention drag racing? I was gonna run against ChuckH since he has the Gibson Exhuast. Then also run against Schlud, since he is stock but has all the same appliances on his truck (bumpers, winch skids, and sliders!
I just installed my winch by myself! Fuck...never do that again! 3 1/2 hours! Unbolt ARB, tilt it down, bolt in Winch, bolt ARB back up, wire winch, reconnect two sets of lights and ARB turn signals, reinstall Fabritron skid and test it all! Time for some beers...........

Rick and I went for a drive yesterday and worked the trucks a bit. We figure all told he was about the same weight or maybe 30 lbs heavier. I was following and was able to rum with him, but couldn't seem to gain on him and he doesn't have the exhaust. However, he was on stock tires and getting out of the corners sooner and so was on the gas sooner. One thing to note, however, was that i couldn't even keep up with him before engine mods or before the 150 lbs worth of sliders I added, for some reason. The only way to really know the differences would be a straight line drag race, but where the hell do we do that and get away with it? We would have to agree on starting reves, shift points, etc and would have to trade trucks and do averages. I don't know where we could get the space AND time to do that legally. Of course we would have to have a stock truck too and weigh everyon's trucks. All that said, I know I'm getting better acceleration because the minivans with 6 kids in them aren't running away from me anymore with 1/4 throttle. And yes, I like all the noise!

ChuckH,
seattle international raceway (now pacific raceway) is about 20 mins from ricks place. you can go pretty much any wednesday, friday or saturday and race. its only about 10 bucks and you'll get a true time slip. www.pacificraceways.com/prv2/index.htm
