Porsche 968 Club Sport

Finally just about finished!

See http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=608490 for progress thread.

Built from Hasegawa 968 Kit. Basic bodyshape and components generally very good but getting them altogether in a manner that looked convincing was incredibly difficult! Nothing seemed to fit in the position needed to look realistic so lots of modifications needed. All part of the fun though!

Some more outside photos including chassis and engine to follow hopefully at the weekend if the weather is ok!

Darren

Wow, terrific looking build! The paint looks great- black really is beautiful.

But it's awfully close to the edge of the TV, isn't it?

If I could make one tiny suggestion, it would be to paint the wheel bolts in flat black. I think it would make a huge difference in the appearence of the wheels.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Very cool build, nice and clean. What's the difference between this car and the 928?

Agree with Kunta - Black is HOT!

Amazing! If I didn't already know about your work on the wheels already, I don't think I'd have ever guessed how much was done to them.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

totally random but we've got the same mouse!
i recognise the dock/chair!

hmm, is there enough paint on the car for you to be bit braver with the sanding/compound/polish?
that patch on the door is needs a little more work.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Seems like there is a tiny bit of orange peel, but other than that its a very nice build.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Great work, your model captures the looks of 968 perfectly! 968 is one of my favourite Porsches.

I know what you mean when you say the parts look good but the end result may not be too realistic straight from the box... Especially the headlights need some adjustment. I have had one of these about 90% finished in my project pile for too many years just because there's something odd in its looks. Your model makes me want to dig my project out and see if I can finally finish it

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Thanks for all the comments.

Yes I probably will paint the wheel bolts flat black or at least a wash in the recesses.

I always seem to do a photo that shows some orange peel!

And you're right there is a small bit of it on the door but it is very minor and only really shows up in the close up photos. The reason I didn't use cutting polish more is because it was hard not to get white from the cutting polish into the door handle recesses which would be a nightmare to completely remove from a black finish.

As well as problems with the fitting of the headlights getting the chassis into the correct position was scary too. I had to place it lower than the locating lugs at the back so had to force the body over them somewhat and I was waiting for a horrible breaking sound but luckily I got away with it!

To get the body to look correct once the chassis is on you have to squeeze the sills onto the chassis sides and glue onto these edges of the chassis (I used non fog superglue with kicker to make it hold quickly) to pull the body in. Doing this prevents the bottom sides of the bodyshell appearing too wide which is what I think you proabaly mean by not looking quite right.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Superb black finishing, and great pics too: I noticed an appreciable impproovment on pics quality lately, on AF, that's cool.

Re: Porsche 968 Club Sport

Some more photos taken outside of the engine and chassis. I've just noticed that I need to reposition the rear dampers because I adjusted the ride height.
