o-ring replacement

Hello to All!

3.4l-1994 Chevy Camaro-5 speed

Lately I have been smelling a strong fuel smell coming from my car after driving. I do not see any evidence of fuel leaking from under the car, nor do i see any evidence in the engine bay so, after doing a little research on this forum, I believe I have some leaking o-rings on my injectors.

How hard of a job is it to replace the injector o-rings.

Can a someone perform this job in their back yard with a fairly good set of tools?

Are there any pitfalls/hard parts to the job?

I have not worked with the fuel system and would like as much information as possible before jumping in.

Thanks to all who reply!

Jack

Re: o-ring replacement

you know what , i think this os now a common problem for the 3.4's because my dads 95 3.4 has the same thing. After we get done driving it you smell this little gas smell, and it is not leaking any where under the car, so it has to be on the motor. But i do not see and fluid on the intake or any thing but if it is a little o-ring leak it probly just lets fumes out. they need clened any ways so i am going to full of his injectors clean them, put new o-rings and lube the ends and shove them in.

Re: o-ring replacement

I't been a while but you should have to only remove the 6 bolts holding the rail down, (I DO remeber the back left one is a SOB to get back in), disconnect the quick connectors, do to the orientation of the engine half way under the windshield it takes a little twisting around to manuever out. I don't remember if it was neccesary to remove the upper plenum, but it owuld probably make life ALOT easier. Once you have the assembly out, it's a breeze, just make sure to soak the rings for no more than a few minutes in clean motor oil before istalling.
