I Can't seem to locate the fuel filter

Hello,
I have a 96 Eclipse GS 2.0 non turbo.....I have read that the fuel filter is under the battery plate beneath, or next to the windshield wiper reservoir but that was on a 97 Eclipse. I need to know if that’s where my fuel filter is.

I have searched the web as well as the threads here @ AF, I have the Haynes repair manual and it says; the fuel filter is between the gas tank and the engine compartment ((duh)) I can’t get a straight answer. Can some one please help?

Re: I Can't seem to locate the fuel filter

On yours its behind the windsheild wiper tank. I've posted a little tutorial on how to do it on ours. Do a search. I'm off to work so I can't.

YOu take out the battery, and windshield fluid tank, and i's right there. There it is

Re: I Can't seem to locate the fuel filter

Did they change the location of the fuel filter from the 95-96 cars and the 97-99 cars? When I had my fuel filter replaced, the mechanic pointed back by the gas tank and actually showed me the filter he replaced. It was in the rear passanger side.

Re: I Can't seem to locate the fuel filter

Well actually I had checked under the hood, but did not remove anything, since in all my other cars it’s been very visible. My cousin and I jacked up the car to try and follow the fuel line but we didn’t follow it all the way through to the back, just under and around the engine.

I am confident that now, knowing where to look I will find it. Thanks everyone and a special thanks to david-b for the Picture link
yeah! to; eclipsegurl319 these forums ROCK!!!!!!!

Jack the back of the car up and look just to the inside of the wheel by the gas tank....you can't miss it.

Re: I Can't seem to locate the fuel filter

I'm betting they switched halfway between the '96 production year. Glad you found it though.
