Grease cap removal
I need to pull the grease cap off of my rear bearings (97 taurus) in order to put a new bearing on. Any one know how they come off? Do they pull off or screw off? I tried to pry it off with a screw driver but it didn't work.

Re: Grease cap removal
I have not had one off, but from the diagram and description in the factory service manual, it appears they are just a pressure fit, not threaded. The service manual also directs you to replace the grease seal/cap.

Re: Grease cap removal
It is just a resistance fit. The cap is tapered.
Stick a small screwdriver in it then another one 180 away from it. It should pry right out. Mike |
