i wanna go all engine....
ok ive finally decided that body kits and big rims (along with various lighting) is just a played out concept. and im sick of seeing it everywhere and done wrong. i dont wanna pull up next to these rice-boy's and argue who's ride looks sweeter, i wanna pull up and poiltely say, "wanna race?". then i wanna whoop their ass
.anyways, i got a stock 97 ex civic. i want you all to keep in mind im on a minimum wage budget. i want to know a few upgrades i could put into the car so that it can beat 2.0L cars such as an mx-6 or an eclipse(95 RS of course). alot of the cars around here are mainly 1.8-2.0L vehicles and none of them have engine work. just huge rims and heavy body kits. alot of the kids who own these cars have no idea how to drive either, lol. i happen to have an auto so it dont matter. ive planned a CF hood, intake, and exhaust. i wanna know the next step. remember, nothing big like engine or tranny swaps. jsut curious if there are simple upgrades that i can afford that will help me become fast enough to beat these slightly larger engine cars. i've already read up on weight issues, and since i have a coupe im not the luckiest. but i considered taking out the seats and my spare tire for maybe a total of 50lbs subtracted? (hey, whatever helps) plus dont forget the CF hood switch. even tho i have an auto, are there any tips on how to drive the car at all when racing? (starting techniques, etc.) plz go easy on me, i've just gotten interested in the world of JDM and speed. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. if you just wanna harrass me about how little i know what im talking about, save your breath, i already know.... |

well, if it helps, i'm on a minimum wage budget too, but anyway, i don't know what this runs, but with a custom ecu/reflash, you should be able to get some more power and better shifts. as far as launching you sort of have an advantage, you can hold your brakes and rpms, and let off (the brakes) on launch. now, i don't know imports real well, or what kind of engine you got, so "take this with a grain of salt", but n2o is the most hp for the dollar out there, but remember, on a stock bottom end ect. go lightly (50-55 shot), glad to help if you got anymore questions

Don't argue with me on this one...
home-made turbo. It'll cost you around $4-800, but that's cheaper than a quality intake and exhaust and you'll get 70hp versus 5hp.If you are as serious about going fast as you say you are, you'll do the proper research and get this done correctly. Here's a few links to help you out. www.homemadeturbo.com www.honda-tech.com These two sites will be your "GOD". Just remember, D-series motors like your D16Y8, are extremely cheap to build. You should feel lucky you don't have a B-series. Anyway, turbocharging is the way to maximize your horsepower for your buck, and isn't nearly as risky is Nitrous. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
