Thumbs up Good News!!!

guys i got good news!!
my homeboy from work has a 83 camaro well he took the engine outta it and never did anything with it.. BUT he said he's willing to sell me the engine (305) and the transmission for 50 bux!
of course im gonna have to rebuild everything but i think it might be a good learning experience.
the transmission was rebuilt before the engine was took out, i asked him for it tho cuz i dont wanna rebuild mine cuz i dont think my current tranny could take the power of a 305, anyway any suggestions? im gonna go look at everything wendsay

this is what i was thinking, get the engine rebuild it from scratch, then when im done, i can jus swap.

oh btw he also has a 327 or something like that.

Re: Good News!!!

Wow man, havent seen you around these parts for some time. So, seeing as in how I don't recollect anything about your car. Is there something wrong with it that would make you want to swap out the engine/transmission. Or are you just wanting to do it for the heck of it? Now that I think of it, didn't something happen a while back with someone putting sugar in your gas tank?

Re: Good News!!!

well sice yours is a v6, you have to redo and upgrade crap like fuel system, suspention, tranny, and LOTS more. So if you ARE going to do it, get a donor car. it is alot of work. and that sucks about the sugar in the tank. i would get a lock gas cap or something. or a big dog to catch them!!

Re: Good News!!!

i've already got a lock gas cap n shit, i can get everything from a 83 camaro (the car the engine came out of) i can get ahold of that. so i can probly get that whole car for about 100-200 bux. but he basicly said i can have anything off of it i want the engine is complete with everything on it, i dont know if it runs or not.

Re: Good News!!!

just get the whole car then, and swap parts. make shure you have another daily driver when you do all of this because it will take a long time to do. But some of the parts on the 83 are not the same and will not fit on a 9(what every year yours is) because it is the first part of the 3rd gen.

Re: Good News!!!

Personally I like my 95 Nissan Sentra. It was very cheap, gets good gas milage and has been pretty reliable. Starter died on me, and it burns a little oil but thats it. They are pretty nice little cars. Best bang for the buck I think as far as beaters go.

I picked mine up for $500, it had some damage to the right front door, but the rest of the car was clean.

Re: Good News!!!

I was hearing about this sugar story from two places, those that heard it from you and from my auto shop teacher. He was saying some dumb guys think it adds power. That's almost as good as the cement in the engine block story.

Get a Chevy.. if you want me to be specific..something around the lines of Monte Carlo, or Impala.. or if you want to jump into Pontiac then get a Gran Prix or Grand Am..

Really fuel effiecient.. atleast my Monte is..
