'79 chevy front end wiring problems

I am trying to reinstall the wiring on the front end of my '79 chevy pickup. The wiring harness came out of an '80 which I think will work. the problem I have is I hooked everything up (everything seemed to plug in right) and I have no power to the starter, keyswitch, headlights nothing. I cant figure it out. Am I just missing something simple like a ground wire or do I need to find another harness? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Trace your wiring out to the inline fuses, to the starter, place a probe multimeter between then to check for continuity. ( no battery installed at this point) check all the wiring for breaks, loose connections and make sure the ground wire is connected and you have NO wires misplaced in a hot conditional wire setup. This should be a simple plug n go setup if you're just switching connections....so keep it simple.

Thanks for the tips. I will try to do that tonight if the temp. dips below 100 It
's been too hot here to even touch the truck. I'll let you know if I have any luck. thanks again

Another thought occured to me that if ANY pins are bent in the plug-in, they won't be providing any power to anything, make sure that it isn't the problem as well...all the wires should connect as well.
