dead starter???

today i drove my hatch to work and it started fine. at the end of the day it wouldnt start. it would turn on, fuel pump too, but no crank. i bumped it and drove home. once there i shut it off and restarted it no prob. it did sound a little weak, like a low battery. any ideas? new starter maybe?

Re: dead starter???

Yeah, you might have a dead cell. I'd bring the battery (or the whole car if you can) to Autozone and they can check your battery and charging system, to try to narrow down the possibilities. Keep us posted. GL

here's an idea. Take apart your old starter and figure out why it wasn't working. You can usually just recondition the contact patches w/ sandpaper and fix the starter yourself.
I haven't had to replace a starter in 5 years. When one goes bad, I just take it apart and sand the terminals, then clean it all up and good to go.

Im just saying. What do you think they do with that starter? The same thing I was telling you to do. Just open it up and clean the contacts. Sometimes they get a little "bent" out of shape. Nothing you couldn't have fixed in 30 minutes.
