Smile Fuel Filter - Where is it located?

Anyone know where the fuel filter is located on a 2005 Aveo sedan?

Dealer states that Aveos do not have a fuel filter. I don't believe them.

Regards

Re: Fuel Filter - Where is it located?

I have found the answer to my question
On many vehicles, the
fuel filter is non-serviceable (see table).
The filter is an integral part of the fuel pump module and fuel
pump regulator assembly. The filter can be
serviced only by
replacement of the fuel module assembly
. This process requires
the removal of the fuel tank (often one or two hours of labor)
plus
several hundred dollars of unnecessary parts.

I don't believe the removal of the gas tank is neccesary to replace the fuel pump. I have a sedan, and there is a plastic access panel under the rear seat that just pops off, allowing replacement from INSIDE the car.

The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump itself, so there is no aftermarket replacement.

A quick check on gm-car-parts.com shows just the fuel pump at $270.

Re: Fuel Filter - Where is it located?

Ok I've got it now.

(1) The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump.

(2) But it (the fuel pump) can be replaced without removing the fuel tank from the access panel under the rear seat.

I will not replace the pump/filter unless the fuel pump dies.

Re: Fuel Filter - Where is it located?

Is this for real? Is this an actual filter, or just a strainer deal? So much for an economy car huh?

Re: Fuel Filter - Where is it located?

I actually know where the fuel filter is located. I don't know about the Aveo in your country, but I have a 2004 Aveo (Indonesia) and I once had my fuel filter cleaned in the Chevrolet dealer, I saw them unmounting my fuel filter located behind the right tyre, close to the torsion bar. It only uses a clam, so it's easy to release.
