Re: What do the different bands mean on a Cobra Radar detector?

cops like to use k band sometimes but mostly use either ka or l (laser). most cops dont use x anymore and with my radar detector ill pick up x sometimes but its usually just a security system on a building. the only one i really worry about is ka cuz it is the most used by cops. just depends on your area really cuz if youre around highway they like to use laser too. you should be able to set your detector to city or highway and it will help filter out unneeded bands

x band is used for automatic doors or police helicopters and planes

k band is the older version of ka, but will also go off on automatic doors

ka is mainly what cops use

ku is a brand new one unless you live in a big city you won't get this one

L is laser if this goes off and your speeding just pull over they will catch up

sometimes numbers will correspond with the letters. the higher the number the higher the strength or signal from whatever is hitting you.

Re: What do the different bands mean on a Cobra Radar detector?

Those bands are frequencies which means different cobra radar detector codes.
Each of them is different band coming from radar guns by police offers.
I explained about it in details in my article about cobra radar detector codes.
