95 supreme...creaking noise in rear wheels

I drive a 95 Supreme 3.1L V6...I've been noticing that my rear wheels are really creaky. It sounds like when you walk in an old house and the floor creaks...It's worse when I go over bumps so it sounds like a suspension problem maybe? I just got my struts replaced a few months ago. Is the creaking a serious problem or is it safe to go on with it considering I've had my struts replaced? I want to avoid having to take it to a mechanic cuz my guy went out of business and I would have to find a new mechanic I figured someone must know something on here....Thanks for any help!

Re: 95 supreme...creaking noise in rear wheels

Hello!

That's your rear spring. you have a large spring that goes from one wheel to the other in the rear end for your suspension. I had mine replaced and it cost $400.00 because of the labour involved.

The spring just goes over time, and it's best to replace it ASAP or your struts will get overworked and you'll have to change those too. This car is pretty heavy in the back.

I know it sucks, but you'll notice a much smoother ride too after you get it fixed.

Re: 95 supreme...creaking noise in rear wheels

before you buy a new spring, check the ends of the spring @ the knuckle.
There ussually is a cheap rubber boot that's supposed to cover the end, that wears out. If the spring ends look good, not splintered or frayed. Go buy some teflon blocks(can't remeber there name) @ a auto parts store and place them between the spring end and knuckle.
They did the trick on my 92 cutlass!
Cheap easy fix.(bout $40 or less)
If your spring is gone and you have to replace it, put the blocks in regardless.
They make a hudge diffrence! Makes the spring slide like it's on glass!
Hope this helps
