installing glow gauges?

I need some help on how to install some reverse glow gauges in my blazer. It's a 2000 LT 4-door 4.3L high output v6 vortec engine. If you need to see a pic of my blazer or the gauges, here is the link to my cardomain page-http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2373050/1 any help will be appreciated. I know a little about wiring because I did a whole stereo system in my old cavalier. Thank you.

Re: installing glow gauges?

The project is not impossible, but it is fiddly. By that, I mean that getting the dash apart and the cluster out is as easy as it gets. But then one has to remove the circuit board and the gages' needles to get it apart to the level one needs in order to put in the modded lights and instrument card. It is not impossible, but you have to wrk so, so carefully to get the needles back in the proper orientation so they are not off terribly. Rlith & Blazee might come along to help some more. All I have ever done on these gague panels was swapping the gages as an assembly for a friend and having him enlist the aid of a local dealer to set the proper mileage on the Odometer for him. I've never broken one open to swap the cards out, though it really gives the truck that posh, custom look if done right. Put in some current limited LEDs (Blue) to give it that eerie Indiglow look on some of the imports and Dodge instrument clusters.

Re: installing glow gauges?

Does all of that apply to just switching the faces as well?

I looked into the platnium series faces, and was curious on how much work was involved. I can do all the basics just those damn needles make me insane!!!

Re: installing glow gauges?

The needles rest *over* the dial face cards - so yep, they gotta come out. :P Personally - I wouldn't do it. I've busted the hands on clocks and other meter gages in the past trying to fix them. But that's just me. I am sure someone's got more practical info on getting them apart and back together effectively.

Re: installing glow gauges?

I like those tails and the parking lights, I saw those same ones on e-bay and passed on them, because I didnt think they would look right on my Blazer which is Blue.

Re: installing glow gauges?

I actually did buy those on ebay. The tails are just black, not carbon fiber. I was thinking about black projector headlights, but decided not to get them. I like the look of the stock hedlights. I have silversatr bulbs and xenon highbeams. They are bright! I bought the gauges on procarparts.com if anybody is wondering.

procarparts.com. I got my clear turns for my old Avenger on there. Pretty good place. Cheapest around back then.
