Performance.......I know its non, but maybe you guys can help me.......

Okay.....basically I have a z24 with a cold air and exaust......what is the next cheap step in giving it a HP boost. I've heard some good things about the ECU performance chips, but not sure if I should just get a cheapy from ebay or something. Planning on selling the car soon.

If you are planning on selling the car soon, why are you modding it?

As for performance, stay away from Ebay!

There is no such thing as cheap performance. It depends on how fast you want to go! If you have a true CAI and a catback exhaust (not just a muffler or a cheap ebay CAI), then I'd suggest going with Headers next. Other wise I'd get a new catback exhaust and a better CAI or WAI.

Yeah if you are going to sell it, don't pour money into it. It's not like modding it increases the value, it actually scares a lot of people off in my experience. However I agree with 01Cavy up there. If your other parts are from ebay, rid yourself of them, buy the real deal, then go with headers.

Re: Performance.......I know its non, but maybe you guys can help me.......

Modding out a car actually drops its re-sale value big time. A: Because if you find another guy that wants to tune a car out most guys want a blank canvas. B: Normal car buyers see things that shouldnt be there and think all you have done is ripped into the engine and other areas and just screwed things up.

Boost however is great fir re-sale. If you boost a car that doesnt come with it stock you can automatically raise your asking price at least $1000. So if you know the car is only worth $2000 and then you slap a turbo or a super on it then up that to an automatic $3000.

Boosting will cost atleast twice what you'll get back in resale, so its not worth it to boost it just to sell it. I really want to see a dyno comparison on eBay products vs. brand name. Do you really think that a brand name is going to make a difference? Bent metal is bent metal, I know some will flow better, but how much better? On our 115 hp cars, I'm willing to bet that the difference between AEM and eBay is very small to none.

AEM, Injen, Weapon-R, etc. all get rid of the black box that sits on your tb. Ebay intakes dont...that is why I say ditch the ebay shit and get the real deal. Yes I agree bent metal is bent metal, but when the bent metal does not rid of all the stock parts it should then it is worthless.

I totally agree with you. All these people think that just cause something has a name and is twice as expensive its better. I would only buy brand name things if i was modding a real car that has resale not a weeny cav because they have no resale value.

no point in getting 2, you can only use 1 at a time, (i know, its habit, i say it too sometimes) but if you're gonna go the bolt on route, which you've already started, i'd get the header next, then maybe some lightweight pulleys and motor mounts, do NOT get a "chip" no matter where its from, unless you like getting assraped

also, just curious, why didnt you just post this in the "performance" or the general section?
