Auto Tensioner

I tried browsing for info on this subject but nothing was really clear cut. My auto tensioner pin broke. Is there a way to set the timing without using the auto tensioner? Does it just hold up the rocker arm for the tensioner to make more tension? And how exactly do I set the timing, my Chilton book makes no sense whatsoever, and I printed out instructions off the internet and they are of no help also. Thanks for any help.

Re: Auto Tensioner

Yeah good idea. Delete the post, rather than post the solution so the next guy can search it.
