Calling all ZC experts

Alright so here is the deal, I had a shop do a ZC swap into my car. Full on ZC (motor, tranny and ECU) Everything they did looks real clean except, they had a hell of a time trying to get a set of axles to work on the car. I dont even know what they ended up putting in there. They went through like 4 sets. Anyway, now the inner CVs are throwing grease pretty bad. The hubs in the car have been changed, and everything else is sweet. The wheel bearing on the passenger side is kinda suspect, it growls a bit but that will be taken care of soon. Does anyone here have a ZC tranny in their car or know where I can find out what axles to use? and NO 90-93 integra axles do NOT work for this. They tried this. They can but have to be modified and I have not found a method for this yet. Does Place racing make something for this application? Someone said they did. Please someone with a brain help me. What do i need? thank you.

Ive done this swap ALOT and we always use 90-93 integra axels, which are considered ZC JDM halfshafts. We havent used a JDM ZC tranny that much, but i dont remember any problems. We usually use the stock, DX/LX/Si tranny. But 90-93 axels will but any 4g hub.

Hard to say, maybe they arent installing axels right. Or the place you got them from mislabled their rebuilds.

When I told the shop to use those axles they said if I remember correctly, that the inner diameter of the half shafts or CVs are are bigger than the civic ones. do you remember anything like this? they also said that they are roughly 3/4" too short and pop out. I found somewhere on the net that the 90-93 teg axles can be used but must be modified, anyone know this procedure?

So you have civic hb std? If your came in a 4 speed you to get the Si hubs or Dx hubs in order for your axles to fit. My friend is rollin around in his hatch si with a zc tranny that we used integra axles.

Hey Dude...check out hasport.com's website...I dunno crap about axles, but they say something about modifying 90-93 Integra axles, or using 90-93 inner joints, with two right-hand outer axles from a Civic..i guess you take apart the inner CV joint and slap a Civic outer onto the Integra inners??

Your other option is to go with an Si tranny and then you can use regular ol' Civic axles. If you already knew all this, sorry

ZCSpeed.com says this:
Which Axles Do I use on the ZC tranny?
"Many people have reported using 90-93 integra axles with no problems, however, ZCspeed recommends a 90-93 integra left axle with a 1985 Honda Accord SE-i 5spd Right axle. The Accord axle is one-half inch longer than the integra axle, eliminating problems with the axle coming apart when the wheel is turned all the way to the right. The accord axle isn't very easy to find, but we get them from time to time. Some people have reported making custom axles with various civic/integra parts. Do your research!! "

So - I dunno...sorry I can't help you more, that is what I could find quickly.

DOHC ZC, I,H,E, urethane bushings and mount inserts, rock chipped hood, some rust, stock steelies, nice comfy Integra seats, and the A/C works! What else could you want from an 18 year old car with 241,000 miles? Working on getting the Si tranny in now

Stanley- Thanks alot for the info you posted. And there is NO WAY I would go with an SI trans. The ZC gearing owns you!

Mellowboy- I will quote Chris Tucker, I KNOW THIS MAN! Yes my hubs are now SI hubs. Changed them with the swap. Thanks though for trying to help a brother out.

I finally got in touch with our local shop that actually does good work and he said that he should be able to help me with it. Also for future reference I just got an email from Place Racing and they DO make their own axles that are designed specially for the ZC trans. They are 178.50 a piece and come with an unconditional year warranty. Thanks to all.
