looking to put larger engine in my xterra

Ive really enjoyed the supercharged 3.0 liter in my xterra for quite some time now, but im not sure its enough for me, so now i want to swap in a different engine and see how the xterra does then. thing is, i cant decide whether i should stick with nissan or go with a big american engine. I really dont care how stupid you think it is, i just want a bigger engine to work onand wanna see what you guys think. Flame away!

Did anybody else notice how GM seems to be really overhyping the new Camaro? I have a bad feeling about this...

Hey, good news, you already have a larger engine! It's a 3.3 liter engine, not a 3.0.

Re: looking to put larger engine in my xterra

Nobody has done an engine swap on an Xterra/Frontier that I've heard of. I know one guy was knee-deep into swapping in an LS1 along with the rest of the driveline a couple or three years ago but I never heard that he actually completed it and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
There's a lot of interest recently in swapping in the VH45DE engine used in the Infiniti Q45 though...

Yea the 05,06 Xterra's are 4.0's. I have one and it's pretty satisfying . You can buy an engine straight from the Nissan Dealer. It may run about 8-10K. Good luck.

I thought Project Xterra had the Infiniti engine in it?

Yeah, it had the VQ35 drivetrain from the 01-04 QX4/Pathfinder in it.
