97 cutlass security light runs for a few then dies
im trying to help out a friend with a 97 cutlass she was
driving the car when it died got it towed back home sat for about 2 months i went over there to get it running but during the whole time it was running the security light was on )blinking( i dont want her driving it untill i can figure this out dont need it dieing on her again any ideas? im guessing the vat system is dieing

Try turning the key on, engine not running for 15 minutes, then turn it off and restart in 10 seconds, this is a relearn procedure for the vats.

the security light comes on when the smart chip in the key is messed up...my security light came on during a long trip but shut off a few minutes after. it shouldn't mess with the car or make it run differently. Maybe replace the key? I know it costs a lot but if you dont wanna drive with the security light on then that would be your best bet.
