Rooftop viewing platform
If I remember correclty the roof rack is rated for less than 150lbs. I need more details about this rating. Is this rating because it makes the truck to top heavy, or because the roof rack will fail, causing damage to the roof of the truck.
The reason for my concern is because I would like to secure a sheet of plywood on the top, and use the roof as a viewing platform when I go to the races. Let me know if any of you have any experiences standing on the roof! Thanks, Chris B |

Re: Rooftop viewing platform
Most of that weight limit is for the lawers. I've seen a lot of people standing on their racks. If you have plywood it should distribute the weight a lot better than someone standing on each rail with their legs. Be careful of the cross-bars though. The weak link is the plastic joints. The main long bars have stronger mounting points in the roof.
