Need Advice on new tire/wheel selection

1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham, has factory chromed-steel rallys (14X6)

I'm considering replacing these wheels b/c they are just getting a tad rusty and just don't look right on this big of a car IMO. That, and I think one of them is slightly bent (will be investigating this soon). AND the tires need replacement.

Anyhow, I like a wider tire for more grip- I can be a bit aggressive (not Mario Andretti or anything) in this heavy car, so I'm considering a wider rim, like a 15X8 or 15X10 (sticking with 15's in steel due to the price of 16's in any metal, plus I'm not sure 16's will fit without expensive and unwanted low-profile tires). But I don't want the tires to stick way out either, making the car look like a go-cart the way some people do to their unfortunate little Neons and Civics.

1) For a slightly wider look without being extreme, what would you recommend?
2) How will my wheel size selection affect my tire choice? What size tire would you prefer with, say, a 15X7 versus a 15X8?

I would suggest the 15 x8 on all four corners and a 235/60-15 tire size

Thanks-

I checked out TireRacks selection of steel 15's online and it seemed a bit dismal.

Feel free to email me, [email protected] if you guys can get other steels not listed. I have been looking at some of the old standby American Racing wheels from local catalogues.

My price range is ~~$50-60 per wheel
Thanks again!!!

Matt
