Hood Swap

I have a 1990 sunbird, and it has a damaged hood. I heard that the Cavalier hood is a direct swap. So I got a hood off of a Cavalier and noticed that the latches are different. Has anyone done this swap or is this swap even do able?

Re: Hood Swap

Did you actually try bolting the hood onto the Sunbird??

If so and it didn't work, then you probably just have to swap the latches. I've seen the Z24 hood on Sunbirds many times so it's definatley do-able. Get the latch from a junk yard, you should be able to get it to work.

Re: Hood Swap

The hood latches are in a different location depending on the year. Two of the same year will interchange directly. My dad had an accident with his 93 Z-24 and I found him a hood from an 89 Z-24 that the latch was in a different spot. Other than that, the hoods are identical.
