Stig is a Swedish name. It means either 'path/trail' or 'step' in the sentence 'step up'.

It's pronounced "Stieg" not "Stiggh".

And my dads name is Stig.

And why, may i ask, does the Stig strike such a nerve with you? My dad's name is Ronald but I don't snap on everybody calling themselves "Ron" or "Ronnie"
