Plymouth Prowler Completed

Firstly I hope I'm posting this in the right section, I class it as a hotrod but I don't know. This is my first attempt at doing flames, I completed it about a month ago but as of yet haven't had a sunny day to take photos on. It was sprayed yellow then masked with foto frisket and sprayed black. Hope you like, any comments are welcome.

I just had to take a look at this because the coincidence is quite funny - I've just started this exact model myself a couple of days ago and it's a very rare model to find on a forum.

I'm at the "cleaning up the parts" stage, but I'm actually surprised at how detailed and well molded this kit is!

I think you were very very brave to take on such a complicated painting job - and for your your first time, the flames seem to have a good shape. Did you freehand with a knife or did you print out a template?

Unfortunately it seems you got some serious paint bleeding under the mask in places

There are a few places where you might want to tidy the build up a bit - tail pipes, fixing that light in the rear bumper etc.

you did a great job on the flames, be proud. I don't think i could pull off a flame job that good and I've been painting a while.

Flames seem ok to me. Love the paint scheme too. Is this the reissued kit? That's cool AMT threw the trailer in there. Nice touch doing flames on that also

The paint bleeding only occured when I put the clear on, for some reason it reacted and caused it run. The light in the rear bumper was there when I took the model outside but had gone by the time I took the photo I need to make a replacement up. As for detail, the engine is great, it comes with battery packs and from what I can see in photos is actually a very good representation of the real thing. I do not know if its a rerelease, I bought it 2 years ago on holiday in Florida, but the boxes wouldn'nt fit in my bag I did buy about 15-25 models. Thanks for your replys.

I quite agree with you. So far I am really impressed with this kit.

There is also a Revell version out there. My friend is building that version simultaneously to my AMT build and it was quite interesting to comapre the 2 kits. Overall, IMO, the AMT comes out at about 15%-20% the winner although the Revell kits does have a couple of better technical solutions - particulary not having the winodow, frame and wipers all molded as one clear piece

The AMT version however seems to have significantly better reproduced the suspension and in more detail which in the case of this car I consider to be very important.

BTW cfcrules, I hope you don't think I was trying to give you a hard time or anything with my previous post? As I said there , I really admire your gumption for taking on that paint job and the flames really look great!

Sometimes I think its just more honest - not to mention useful - to give some feedback beyound a simple "awsome". I only do that though when I get the feeling that modeler has been pushing their personal envelope and deserve a comment that shows I spent more than just 2 seconds looking at their work - and that was the case here

Klutz, I agree its better to be honest, thats how you learn, if people said that a model with no paint looked awesome, you wouldn't learn to improve. I've been following your 365 Daytona, and all I can say is that I aspire to some day be as ggod you, I'm going to start my Fujimi version of that in a couple of weeks. As for the window being all one piece, its very annoying as it becomes almost impossible to make it look good, however it was easier in that I din't have to worry about getting glue on it. Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them
