Changing Spark Plugs VW Passat 2002

Does anybody know how to change the spark plugs and spark plug wires on a vw passat 2002? Are the spark plugs on the top of the engine right underneath the plastic cover or elsewhere? How easy or difficult is it to change the plugs?

Re: Changing Spark Plugs VW Passat 2002

I have a 2000 Passat V6 30v engine. The plugs are fairly easy to change, though if its the first time you've changed the plugs, the wire boots will be tough to remove. You do need to remove the plastic covers (via the 1/4 turn fasteners). If you are replacing the spark plug wires, be sure to replace them one at a time to maintain the correct firing order (it sounds like a no-brainer until you make that mistake once).

When I lift the hood up and remove the plastic cover I see what appears to be the housing for the four spark plugs but they have this plastic cover over the 4 holes. Do I remove the plastic cover or are the spark plugs located to the right hand side of these four holes?
