I thought my car would like a nice cold puddle of water to drink from so I took it through a nice clean near by watering hole and how does it pay me back- HYDROLOCKING
!! Now I am looking for a new motor. What I am looking at is about $2000 for the motor, trans, ECU and INSTALLATION. The two engines that I have been looking at are the d16y8 and the b18b1. Both seem like pretty easy and pretty straight forward swaps and pretty inexpensive. I would love to hear from people who have performed these swaps and what they needed and what they had to get to finish the project. I would love for there to be a book or a website that had all the parts that EVERYTHING you needed for a swap- I mean EVERYTHING- I would pay for that info. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

Re: Need MAJOR advice- hydrolocked my d16y7 and now ready to swap on a budget
ok, so you already have a 1.6 sohc, and the d16y8 is not much different. if you were gonna put that engine in you might as well just get another d16y7. just my opinion, id take the b18, or b16 would be just as easy. i mean, its your call, but your hardly gonna have more power in a d16y8 and you did before you killed your car. lol
