Z31 Project back on track.
I have finally paid for all of the engine repairs for my dammed Z31, but there are a few issues with it still.
First, occasionally whn i start it, it bogs out, especially when accelerator is pressed. I have to gradually let out the clutch until it gets rolling about 10 KMPH, then i more or less floor it, and it bogs, then runs great.... dunno wtf... perhaps it was sitting too long (3-4 months?) I ordered a new fuel rail and injectors... should be here soon Idles High at 1400 RPM but i think my Throttle cable needs adjusting. MAJOR cooling issues. It overheats within 5 - 10 minutes of running. but the rad doesn't boil over. At first i thought Thermostat but thats hard to get to.... Also, the shop i took it to said that there are a craptacular amounts of vaccume lines and open ended wires. good 5 hours work he says.... dont know if i trust him tho. The only other problem i have is that my dash lights wont turn on with the headlights. possibly bypass everything and just use a switch? Ill start posting pics n stuff of it, along with plans. I just started a new job, i make about 200 bux a night playing video games, sleeping, or whatever, 4 nights a week, so ill have alot of money to put into it. EDIT: i know i spelled it Proecy... wont let me fix..... I feel uneducated now

video game tester?
![]() well the shitty idle and dying will be from a vacuum leak issue, so get all that shite fixed up.. check out this for a guide to most of the vacuum lines in there... and this for more of em for the electrical issues first check out your fusebox and make sure everything is still good, then after that find yourself a factory service manual!! you they're usually at www.carfiche.com but if not just wait a day or so and it'll come up, i just think their server sucks too much to have all of them up at the same time or something like that check out az's site for overheating fixes... first thing i'd try is taking a high pressure water hose to your rad and blowing all of the masses of dirt and leaves and shite that builds up in there... also i'd recommend doing a full tune up.. fuel/air filters, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, check all your belts and stuff, and perhaps if warranted get the 60/120k mile tune up done to it. after that you should be good to go

Re: Z31 Projecy back on track.
Its a crappy gas station. i work the graveyard. I bring in either my xbox360 and hook it up to the tv, or my computer to the monitors the use for the tills.
I get like 2 customers a night, most just pay at the pumps, and my boss is really laid back. even lets me run LAN cable to use his internet. make 12 bux an hour to do nothing. I remember one time i just brought my rx7, wire cutter, jackstands and stuff, just spent my whole shift working on it. fixed a bunch of shorts in the dash n stuff. I sometimes practice "drifting" around the store. i love my job

Re: Z31 Project back on track.
That job sounds like a sweet deal! I would venture that your thermostat or water pump is bad/stuck. I don't think you would see boiling in your radiator if the thermostat wasn't allowing the coolant to pass through your engine block. You may as well replace your water pump and thermostat at the same time, just for good measure. Overheating in 5 to 10 minutes definately sounds like a blockage. Also, have you checked the tension on your belts? If the mechanic forgot to adjust/tighten something when putting those back on, it could be that neither your fan nor your water pump are even operating at all, which could explain things.
Like DeleriousZ said, your vacuum lines are probably leaking. Replace all the damn things and get it over with. If they're dry-rotted and cracked enough to leak in one place, they're likely to do it in others. I don't know about this mechanic of yours, but 5 hours for vacuum lines and wires from an experienced mechanic sounds a little much to me. Could be wrong. |
