5.0 V8

Hey guys I'm setting my Ford ranger up for drag racing cuz i think a ranger beatin a camaro would be funny as shit. So I wanna drop a 5.0L V8 mustang engine, tranny, driveshaft, and posi rear end in it lol. First I wanna know how much HP and Torque this engines put out and also does anyone know the rough measurement of this engine I wanna know if im gonna have to mod my engine bay at all. thanks

Re: 5.0 V8

Well I think you may have to use the ranger driveshaft. The mustang driveshaft may work if you have a short wheel base truck, but I still think it will be too short. You shouldnt have to mod the engine bay, but you will have to get block hugger type shorty headers. I have a set from a Granada that are almost a log type manifold that would be perfect for a sbf/ranger swap. Also I would suggest Caltracs for your leaf spring rear. Unless you wanna go coilover or something. Do a search for stock hp & tq #'s. This topic has been covered many times. Good luck with the truck and keep us updated on the build.

Re: 5.0 V8

what engine is in the ranger? if its a 2.5l then you might want to look into turboing that. its the same basic engine, bored out some, that was in the svo mustang. it can handle a good amount of boost.

Re: 5.0 V8

Drop a 302 (5.0) in it. I had a friend that put a 305sbc in an S10, it was a fun little truck too.

Re: 5.0 V8

From what I have found a Fox Body mustang with the 5.0L it has 225HP and 300 lb/ft of torque.
